A Missing Link between Prion and other Neurodegenerative Diseases?
2010: 1 year / Grant: 16 000 euros
Project: With the aim to improve our comprehension of the conversion process and since transglutaminase (TG) could participate and facilitate aggregation of proteins in some misfolded protein associated diseases, the “Transglutam” project proposed to investigate the role of TG in prion disorders. The rational was that TG belong to cross-linking family of proteins and the authors thought that TG could facilitate the cross-linking and thus the aggregation of pathological proteins that in turn coul increase the expression of TG and create a chronic aggregation phenomenon.
